It is possible to insult fascists without being ableist or fatphobic. A physical feature does not equal values, behaviour, or intent. All you’re doing when you make fun of fascists’ bodies in your meme is tell your peers that you hate anyone who might share some of those physical qualities. Those fascists don’t even see your meme and will likely never see your meme. Your audience is your fellow social media users. If your insult could apply to non-fascists then it’s not an effective insult anyway. People will act violently no matter what they look like.

@stephaniepixie yep yep yep. every time I see someone make a fatphobic joke about some fascist or fascists as a collective, it's a fun reminder that my fat ass is not safe with them and they would throw me under the bus at the drop of a hat. also really makes me question their actual commitment to their stated values, because fatphobia is a clue that they're probably also weird about disabled people, people of color, and anyone else they deem less-than or somehow unworthy.

@stephaniepixie In many ways, doing this actually reinforces fascist ideas, because hating and dehumanizing people for their intrinsic properties IS fascist. These people who think they're being clever might even realize it on some level : "These jokers claim to value physical and mental perfection, but they are not physically and mentally perfect" - only to fall into that massive pit trap of fascist propaganda: They do not care about being inconsistent. They can't be "caught doing something other than they preach", because truth has no value to them.

@stephaniepixie The most effective insult that I've found for fascists is to call them a fascist to their face. They live in a world of denial and so deny their inner fascist worldview, and are very insulted when pegged. In contrast, non-fascists respond by laughing when they are falsely accused.
