@stephaniepixie yep yep yep. every time I see someone make a fatphobic joke about some fascist or fascists as a collective, it's a fun reminder that my fat ass is not safe with them and they would throw me under the bus at the drop of a hat. also really makes me question their actual commitment to their stated values, because fatphobia is a clue that they're probably also weird about disabled people, people of color, and anyone else they deem less-than or somehow unworthy.

@bluestocking @stephaniepixie Same with the mental health ones. Like hello, person with a (or more than one) mental health problem here! I'm not a fascist! There is no correlation between the two! My serious issues with depression do not cause me to want to oppress other people!

@bluestocking My theory is that they don’t substantially care about anti-fascism and mainly want the dopamine from getting social media recognition for repeating a tired “joke”. Someone who actually wants to take down the fascists takes into consideration people who don’t meet the rigid expectations of what we’ve been marketed as the “ideal” look. They would (and already do) absolutely throw marginalized people under the bus. It also shows a lack of self-reflection.

@bluestocking @stephaniepixie Also the same with children to be honest, and I've found that subject super hard to broach even with comrades I'd otherwise trust. People calling fascists "toddlers" or "moody teens" or "children" is such an admittance in a way, but people don't want to admit it is discrimination.
