@leigh@ottawa.place @andrew@ottawa.place Congratulations on setting up a local Ottawa instance. The about page looks good with the clear CoC and instance block lists. Do you think that it might be good to boost the transparency a bit by providing details about how the instance is run? For example, I'm curious about where the funding comes from, details about the admin team, plans for "bus factor."

@leigh@ottawa.place want a suggestion from a long time instance admin? vet new accounts. if you open your doors you'll get people from all over the world looking for an account, maybe a lot of those are robots too. I vet all accounts on mastodon.se. it means slower growth, but much less moderation headaches, almost 0 spam, and actually a better behaved local timeline.
