A local butter company is running into a legislative barrier. There's a two-tier system in Ontario. Small producers can sell direct to consumers, but not through retail or wholesale channels. the next step up requires a full industrial facility costing millions of dollars, and is only suited to large volume operations.
The Lofty Butter Company (https://loftybutter.ca/) is within 100km of me, makes wonderful butter, but if I want some, I have to drive for the better part of an hour round trip, and unless I have another reason to do that, it ain't happening until I have an EV.
So there's now a petition to see if we can get our provincial government to make it a little easier for the small businesses that they claim are the engine of our economy. If you're in Ontario, check it out: https://c.org/hVLt9fBTkD

@alan Good luck on making the step in regulation into more of a slope. Of course my eyes stopped when you said "until I get an EV." I wonder how many miles you drive per month and if you wouldn't be able to make money by trading in for an EV immediately.
