its a horrible mistake watching martin scorsese's cape fear this early in the morning BUT it does make me realize that i miss old scorsese movies AND bernard herrmann is just about the best film music composer ever.

Collections of my debris recordings are available as EPs on Bandcamp, Mirlo, and Faircamp: https://daveriedstra.bandcamp.com/album/sympath-debris https://mirlo.space/dried/releases https://daveriedstra.com/albums These are slightly more cleaned-up versions of traces generated by my studio practice which could broadly be described as "quiet gentle noise and feedback" and "electroacoustic studio field recordings". The debris log has many more: https://daveriedstra.com/debr...

So #BandcampFriday is nearly upon us, and to celebrate that and the release of my latest #electronica EP “Everything We Want”, I assembled a playlist of some of my most beloved tracks by a variety of producers in #DrumAndBass, #Jungle, Prog #House, #Breakbeat, and of course a dash of #Synthwave. If you like your beats to fall on the more melodic side with lots of #synthesizer sequencers and phat analog bass sounds and all that jazz, I think you'll really enjoy this! 🎶😎 https://www.yarred....

It took Cyberpunk 2077 almost 6 years to hit a price I was willing to pay. 70% off for the base game and 60% off for the edition with DLC, which I think is worth the money, it's one of the best DLC's I've played.. Ahem, supposedly. Anyway, thanks GOG for being awesome. Gonna have a great weekend now.

NEW: Another AI model escaped its supposedly isolated environment in a cybersecurity test. This time it was the model Kimi K3, made by Chinese company Moonshot. At least this time it didn't hack anyone. This is the latest incident of its kind after incidents at OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta and AISI. https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/07/chinese-ai-model-kimi-escaped-its-cybersecurity-testing-environment-researchers-say/

“Minus. Minus! 23,000 on non-farm payrolls…” Trump’s economy is not just growing slowly, it’s moving backwards. His policies aren’t working and his chaos abroad is only making it worse.

Today is Bandcamp Friday, and I’m recommending the new Album “Aposta Amorosa” from Marco de Carvalho just released today: https://marcodecarvalho.bandcamp.com/album/aposta-amorosa Marco was raised in Rio de Janeiro (now based in Seattle) and plays Samba and related styles of music on nylon string guitar. This album is a collection of 21 original compositions both instrumental and songs. I worked on this album with him doing all the recording and mixing. I love it. #BandcampFriday
