Seemingly SO many folx, especially neurodivergent creators who are incredibly knowledgeable about neurodivergence, have been "misusing" one word and creating a new one that's "incorrect" and "unnecessary" (in our opinion) 🥺 The word they "misuse" is neurodiversity. This describes the range of diversity in structure and functioning across all human brains. It is not the noun used to describe folx who are neurodivergent: that is neurodivergence. The new, unnecessary word we heard recently was (shudders) neurodivergency 😖 Just to confirm, that isn't the "correct" word: it's a word that somebody created and used, but the word that pairs with being neurodivergent is (per the above) neurodivergence. Yes: we know that technically divergency is considered a valid synonym for divergence, but no: just... no.... please 🥺 And yes: we know this is petty, but these words really do cause us internal damage when used 😵‍💫 It's like when folx say / write irregardless or pronounciation 😵🙃 #neurodivergent #neurodivergence #YesWeKnowThatLanguageIsDescriptiveNotPrescriptive
