Setting down new roots for when Twitter goes extinct Geeky enough to still read comic books and nerdy enough to read science books for fun, so that makes me a dork I’m also an atheist, socialist, bibliophile that enjoys real ale and cricket. No quarter, during military conflict or piracy, implies that combatants would not be taken prisoner, but executed.
Since the Hague Convention of 1899, it is considered a war crime; it is also prohibited in customary international law and by the Rome Statute.

Just a point of order: if you are defending your government’s actions in a conflict - whether it being holding an entire population accountable for the actions of a minority or the bombing of a school killing the pupils - by saying, “this is war, and all is fair in times of war,” then I suggest that you enter ‘Nuremberg Trials’ into Google (other search engines are available) and do a little bit of reading of the stuff that pops up!
