@oxy@social.bsdlab.au Well I was all set to trial "on prem" with the limited GPU hardware I have at one point. When it became obvious Anthropic were wrong 'uns along with Hugging Face themselves for other reasons, and that the gains from on-prem models would be largely specious or mean-reverting based on the empirical studies to date anyway, I #shitcanned my HF account.

I might not agree with all of it, but reading "The #Californian #Ideology " helped put what happened when the project I worked on in the 00s got #VC funding and #shitcanned after the #subprime #mortgage #crisis . A Chinese interest ended up with all the IP assets.
