I have a volunteer petunia that has been coming back in an area of rocks in one of my garden beds for several years now. (Even after I accidentally sprayed it with Round Up one spring.) The notion is fascinating to me bc these are supposed to be annuals here. (I never planted it, it seeded there.) Zone 6b. This year most of the flowers are coming in a much paler, somewhat less full version than they typically are. A "normal one" shows up occasionally, as seen in this image. Does anyone know what might cause this? Is it just running the course of its possible life (meaning next year maybe this won't miraculously return)? #gardening #petunia #purplewave
