That headline makes it seem like a variation of what the callow traitors in DOGE said. They couldn't define what DEI was. They were afraid to say what they were actually acting on - anything that in any way mentioned or funded something studying some marginalized group. They would not outright say that the only group they considered meritorious was abled white men (and in this case, drivers of cars).
They warped the meaning Black folks had given "woke" into some rallying cry for fragile white supremacists. They've warped CRT and DEI similarly.
