Weeping my way through the workday because Jarrah deteriorated SO FAST on the weekend and we made the difficult but kind-of-only-good-possible decision to take him to be put down this morning. (My manager told me to take some time out if I need to but frankly, doing mechanical and familiar tasks is good for me.)
Gosh, I'm so sad, friends. He was so the best, the most amazing and special genius wonderdog, and even though he'd been having acouple of breakthrough seizures about once a month, he was generally doing great. This rapid decline took all of us -- including Jarrah, I think -- by surprise.
When I rang and sobbed to the vet yesterday, he said we could do bloodwork to see what might have caused this, but when we arrived this morning, he agreed that it wasn't worth it. It was quick and he relaxed into my arms, finally, after a couple of days of confusing (for him and us) immobility and loss of appetite.
Kept the two school-aged kids at home today. We're all just so bereft
