These are not little green apples, they are two fruit of the Black Walnut Tree. Native to parts of Canada, Black walnuts are the favourite food of squirrels and other small mammals. The shells are useful for dyeing fabrics. The Black walnut dark hardwood is harvested to make furniture, veneer, cabinetry, and panelling . #MyWalks #Canada

This is a young plant, they reach height up to 3 feet tall. White Snakeroot provides late season food to bees and butterflies, as well as some moths. The toxin contained within White Snakeroot is called tremetol, and is present in the foliage and roots. Tremetol can be, but Should Not Be consumed by grazing herbivores, and is fatal to them. Milk from animals that grazed on Snake-root is poisonous to humans. It is what supposedly killed Abraham Lincoln’s mother in 1818. #MyWalks #Canada

Northern Catalpa,also known as the Cigar, Worm or Bait tree "the wood's beautiful grain is for furniture, interior trim and cabinetry. Catalpa has one of the lowest shrinkage/expansion rates of any hardwood.The tree is often sought out by fishing enthusiasts, not for the plant itself, but for a common parasite that is used as bait. The catalpa moth is widely regarded as one of the best live baits, and the tree may be planted strictly for this purpose." #MyWalks #Canada
