All the hubbub about the #mcConnell photograph, and "is it real or is it AI?" seems to totally forget about the last 30yrs of perfectly effective Photoshop-based picture fakery.
You don't need to show extra fingers or weird ears to determine fakery. It could be totally artisanal, hands-on, old-school fakery involved too ya know?

It's not about if Mitch McConnell is dead or alive. It's about how congress is employed by the people of the United States. If I'm a no show for my job for multiple days, with no contact, it could lead to my termination. If members of congress are a no show, and nobody knows where they are, it should be assumed they don't want the job anymore and it should proceed to an election immediately.
Representatives and senators are not supposed to be royalty, yet here we are.
