@knowprose@mastodon.social That was my immediate thought too. The batt is usually mounted really low (in the bottom of the chassis) and its heavy as fuck. Its actually the most expensive part of the car (there is lots of management electronics that goes into it too). I would totally agree, but Ive been driving an #MG, and it is supremely zippy. I have not even hit 100% power burn on it. Max I did is 90% because I did not need to do more. When I need to it just rips the road. So the Chinese at least hit the lineage of British MGs (Cheap, sporty), but as you say, the battery is smaller on that... ... I got the 'extended range' batt for my MG and its only 400km (so its lighter)... The MG does not feel as heavy, but maybe because the suspention is more 'sporty' (read basic). So you dont get the 'loungeroom on wheels' feel. ... so yeah, battery plays a huge part as you say.
