Hmm, released magic smoke from my salvaged Bose sounddock, attempting to hardwire it (the connector no longer working). I suspect I swapped polarity on the power supply. 😬
(although, the thing is terribly non-maintainable, two *TIGHT* ribbon connections, i.e. move the board and it pulls the ribbon out... they are not designed for much movement)
Probably better off buying a DIY amp kit and reusing the speakers or building one than attempting to hack into the thing. (because, do not need any iPod connectivity et al). #magicsmoke
