The district governor of Baghdad, Kabul, told Radio Harat that a house in the Gosfandaran village collapsed last night due to the earthquake, resulting in the deaths of eight members of a family and injuring another. In the Mohammad Agha district of Logar, one house was completely destroyed, and two others were partially damaged. Javid Fazli, the press officer of the Disaster Response Directorate in Logar, told Radio Harat that no one suffered serious injuries in the incident. Fazli also stated that floods in Logar have damaged 300 homes and destroyed thousands of acres of agricultural land. Last night, an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook many parts of the country, including Kabul, as well as areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Indian-administered Kashmir. Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad, a spokesman for Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) said that the affected provinces—Kabul, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjshir, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, Ghor, Samangan, and Sar-i-Pul—experienced severe weather during this time. In Faryab, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kunar, and Laghman, six people were martyred and seven others wounded. Eighteen people have been arrested in connection with the sale and trafficking of drugs from five provinces. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation's Department of Meteorology has predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in 21 provinces of the country for Wednesday. The ministry wrote on its X (formerly Twitter) page that thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, along with potential lightning strikes, are expected in Farah, Baghdis, Herat, Farah, Ghor, Nimruz, Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Urozgan, Daikundi, Ghazni, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Kabul, Parwan, and Nangarhar provinces on Wednesday. According to the source, rainfall levels are expected to range from 10 to 40 millimeters and wind gusts from 10 to 35 meters in various areas. Excavation and leveling work on the challenging sections of the Pedole-Sang-e Nošte road are underway. Excavation of the mountain slopes and leveling of the challenging sections of the Pedole road, from the west of Khushal Khan High School No. 2 to the third Pedole project and finally to the Sang-e Nošte area in districts seven and twenty, is ongoing. These activities are being carried out to prepare the route for the construction of the road's foundational layers. According to the plan, the first section of this road, from the west of Khushal Khan High School No. 2 to the third Pedole project, will be 480 meters long and 40 meters wide, and the second section, from the third Pedole project to the Sang-e Nošte area, will be 3,300 meters long and 15.3 meters wide. This project includes the construction of retaining walls, sidewalks, flowerbeds, road markings, and the installation of lighting systems, which are scheduled to be completed in a fundamental and standard manner in 1405 of the solar Hijri calendar. With the completion of this road, greater conveniences will be provided for citizens traveling from the Chahal-ston route to the Kabul-Logar road, and it will also play an effective role in reducing traffic congestion on the Kabul-Logar road. Fourteen individuals were arrested in connection with the sale, use, trafficking, and production of narcotics across 11 provinces. A correspondent for Radio Azadi reported that an Afghan military force shot down a Pakistani drone in the Abchakhan area, related to Pul-e-Alam, the capital of Logar province. According to reports, the drone was targeted this morning. Basic road construction is underway from the Stanzaki Four-Way to Begram! Basic road construction from the Stanzaki Four-Way to Begram, within District Eight, is continuing with full consideration of all technical and engineering standards. This road, with a total length of 2,530 meters and a width of 40 meters, has had a one-kilometer section asphalted, and basic construction work is ongoing on the remaining sections to prepare them for asphalt application. This road construction project includes the construction of drainage ditches, sidewalks, flowerbeds, green areas, bicycle lanes, iron-concrete bridges, the installation of streetlights, and other details of a standard road.
