The actor Jeffrey Hunter was cast to be the lead of the new Star Trek series in the 1964 pilot. It's not a bad choice. Hunter had a lot of charisma and beauty to spread around, and he certainly had the physique and the enticing appearance of a “complicated man”.
Marilyn Monroe said about Hunter: “He has sort of — well, an all-encompassing type of magnetism. And he's a walking advertisement for marriage."
