This whole #KeepAndroidOpen thing (@keepandroidopen@techhub.social) has definitely not gotten the amount of attention it deserves. (Including from myself.)
TLDR: Google wants to lock down (at the #Android #OS level, rather than at the #PlayStore level) what can be installed on #Android phones. That would most likely be the end of (legit) alternative AppStores like @fdroidorg@floss.social .
