Slowcooker ? So many times I have seen slowcookers being used in TV-series . ( Mainly #kdrama ) But never came close to one in real life. Nobody around us uses or used one ever. We are not new to slowcooking on gas or electric. Either classic goulash -types or curry dishes. But the thought of using one is appealing. Anybody ? #slowcooker #cooking #food #kitchen

@writerchristina@cupoftea.social Haha, I don't think I've done 5 back-to-back with him, but I've probably watched that many this year, maybe more. It's super fun to find actors who are marvellous to watch, no matter what they do!! I loved Kill Me, Heal Me, and enjoyed Traditional Wife. I think he'd be great in historicals, but it doesn't look like he's done many. He certainly has action skills, which he uses in #TheDevilJudge. #kdrama #JiSung #지성

@writerchristina@cupoftea.social This was the show that started me on my #JiSung quest! He's delightful here as probably a bad guy, and I find that he does so well in a wide range of roles! I'm loving him in #TheApartmentJob, and I recently watched #SecretLove with him and #HwangJungEum another actor I adore. I'll have to double back and try #TheJudgeReturns again, because folks enjoyed it. Great acting is delightful! #kdrama #지성

I am really enjoying The Devil's Judge. Ji Sung is excellent as always but what I love is how it really subverts the expectations I had. We get to see chaotic, sarcastic Ji Sung but then we also see how his dark past has really messed him up. I'm not that far into the drama yet but have to really pace myself as every episode has SO much in it that I need to process the episode before I can move on. And we get to see Ji Sung with both hair up in a sharp suit and with hair down in a cosy house coat so the director clearly understood the assignment 😆. AND the cinematography is gorgeous. #kdrama #JiSung #지성

I was going to watch a fluffy romance but my oldest is home from uni and with both kids using Netflix I'm forced to watch Viki instead. So rather than watching Because This Is My First Life I have started Connection. Don't ask me why. It looks dark and violent but I'm still on my Ji Sung kick so I'm just rolling with it. It might surprise me. #kdrama #JiSung #지성 #Connection

@writerchristina@cupoftea.social Oh, I just posted that I'm watching #JiSung in #SecretLove. He's such a delight to watch, except in the time-travelling judge series that came out in the last year or so. This show (2013) is on Viki, as is his amazing #KillMeHealMe, both with #HwangJungEum. Viki brought back a lot of their older shows here. I had to get Kocowa for a few months in the winter to watch a bunch of oldies that I'd long wanted to watch. #kdrama

My e-reader is frozen and has such a long battery life, I have to wait days for it to actually die. 😅 So I borrowed an ebook from my library for the first time and read on my phone. I've seen the two seasons of the #kdrama #Pachinko so far, so decided to read the book, too. The story differs a bit, but respectfully.

Finished Doctor John (because I'm still on my Ji Sung streak) and really loved it. I appreciated the nuanced discussion around euthanasia and I found the patient cases interesting. I also really loved the relationship between Cha Yo Han and Kang Shi Young. I cried buckets and gasped at the surprise kiss (surprise as in I totally didn't see it coming). However I was SO mad at Cha Yo Han for ghosting Kang Shi Young for 3,5 years!!! Sure, he had locked in syndrome for part of that time, but he should have let his colleague tell her. She had a right to know. What if he'd died from it? How horrible would that have been for her to think he was very busy and then he's suddenly dead. And then to not call her when he was better again and even when he was in Korea for a YEAR! He could call Dr Lee but not the woman he supposedly loved? He spied on her, but let her live in the belief that he'd given up on her? Such a shitty thing to do! #kdrama

I clearly have feelings about this ending but it didn't completely spoil the drama for me. I still think it was very good but I really don't understand this trope of men leaving the women they love for years, ghosting them and letting them think they're dead or have forgotten about them only to resurface after years and suddenly all is well. I could really do without endings like that. #kdrama

Rewatching this and realise that it's not I lost my love for Kdramas, but just that Kdramas have morphed into a shape that I no longer love as much. I've tried in vain to find the quirky, melo #Kdrama romances that I used to love in the current roster, but I just don't find it anymore - that unique flavour, the essence that made it uniquely Kdrama. Not sure what changed, but it definitely started when foreign streaming platforms started producing them. I suspect that they're injecting the same kind of formulas into these dramas: dramas that u can watch while scrolling, broad appeal, safe, over explained etc. Interestingly, while the romance genre is somewhat suffering, the Kdrama scifi/fantasy/thriller ones are actually quite good albeit a bit too violent for my tastes. Ok scratch that, I think none of the current crop can beat the likes of Signal and the Memorist. Being back the quirky romances! I miss the Secret Gardens, Another Miss Oh Yang and Kim Sam Soons!

I took the day off today and after doing my chores I thought I'd watch an episode of Kill Me, Heal Me and that was a mistake. That drama is SO sad, I'm destroyed. 😭😭 And I'm not even at the end yet. It's rapidly becoming one of my favourite dramas. #kdrama #KillMeHealMe

That's Teach You a Lesson finished. I originally started watching it as someone I follow on TikTok was in an episode, but the more I watched the more I got into it. It was really good. 🙂 #TeachYouALesson #KDrama
