I had fallen victim to the fallacy of the 'growing edge'; the belief that only the very frontier of scientific advance counted; that everything that had been left behind by that advance was faded and dead. -- Isaac Asimov ⬆ #Wisdom #Quotes #IsaacAsimov #Science#Photography #Panorama #ChacoCanyon #PuebloBonito #Ruins #NewMexico

HARI (1985) Acrylic on Canvas - 32” x 20” Hari Seldon, the benevolent grand architect of the next millennium is seen here against the splendor of Trantor at the height of its power. It is a world completely sheathed in metal: one gigantic city that is the hub and nerve center of the Empire. 1/5 #sciencefiction #illustration #isaacasimov #foundation #delreybooks

@tknarr@mstdn.social Almost *all* of Asimov's robot stories were stories about the ways that the Laws can go wrong. Somewhere in the reams of autobiography, I forget where, Asimov pretty much said as much. Xe made the laws to avoid being pushed into the #SciFi trope of evil robot stories, and ended up writing mainly about the edge cases and loopholes, because that's where the interesting storytelling is. @cstross@wandering.shop #LawsOfRobotics #IsaacAsimov
