Insurance and Omnipod Insulin Pump Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
I may not have the issue I thought I would have with my insurance company providing more #omnipod pods than normal. With a 200u reservoir, my 85u/day #insulin use goes through a pod in a little over two days while normal change intervals for the system are every three days. At a bit over $50 a pod cash price, that would mean I'd need to spend about $500/month to buy the extra pods out of pocket. The good folks at reddit have told me that while a bit of a battle with the insurance company is to be expected, it should indeed be possible to get a scrip for 2-day pod changes which would solve the issue. The other alternative is to consider the use of a stronger concentration insulin, which frankly scares me a bit.
