Yet again, I am disappointed with the latest episode of #startrek #StrangeNewWorlds. Another week, another shtick-of-the-week "fun", "crazy" premise. Yawn. With this terrific cast, there were a lot of opportunities to tell the stories of non_TOS characters as well as providing interesting background for TOS personalities. With a few exceptions, the focus has been on putting this cast through "wacky" situations week-in and week-out. The writing has been shit-tier, and the showrunners have really dropped the ball here. Is there any wonder why #trek interest is at an all-time low both with fans and #paramount? Hell of a way to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Trek.

I'm trying to generate some motivation to get things done, but last night's low of 77 degrees F, current temp of 92 degrees F with drizzle, 50% RH, no AC, and a fan that needs cleaning is siphoning my energy.

I have a major case of the fuck-its right now. And I'm not driving yet so my go-to heat relief mechanism isn't available.

I have no idea how folks in the U.S. South do this every year.

A big relief: the used car that my son received as a combo effort from me, his mom, and his grandparents for his high school graduation doesn't appear to need a new transmission. I feel #fortunate and #grateful at receiving an $800 repair bill, which included a complete brake job. Fucking #cvt transmissions...

Doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment (especially for long term #t1d folks) but the #omnipod 5 system has just reduced my #a1c into the high sevens. I'm still fighting with #unitedhealth over increasing the amount of pods I get per month, but I'm hopeful I will be able to get the insurance stuff sorted and stay with the system.

I have recently taken a hard look at migrating away from my Lenovo i7 Win11 laptop to a #macbook Pro for my main productivity workhorse. While there are some great reasons to stick with My ASUS i9 laptop (gaming), there are at least for me some very compelling reasons to shift to a Mac for my daily driver. Having said that, one of the main reasons I haven’t made the switch involves my apprehension over how a potential migration of my #obsidian environment will shake out. I do use Obsidian Sync, so in theory the data should be taken care of but I use a commerally available system of customizations that I would hate to have to reconfigure from scratch. As it is, a simple host to host transfer of my Obsidian environment scares me, but cross-platform and potential additional complexity adds hesitancy. Bawk bawk. <- me

I'm starting the process of using #applemusic in preparation for migrating me and family members away from #spotify long-term.

Sure, Spotify may be owned or run by AI-loving war nazis, but their interface is so much more intuitive. Aren't Apple the UI kings? I (so far) really dislike the UI.

And no smart shuffle? Yeah, I get it, having ready access to AI-loving war nazis has a trickle down effect in terms of AI being more involved in the shiffle algo. But NGL, I miss it.

Having to pay extra for a Marvis so I can keep scroblling is annoying AF but is totally on-point with traditional Apple monetization procedures I guess I should be grateful there isn't a custom dongle involved (wait, is there?)

On the plus side, the music just seems to sound *better *even in shite-tier BT headphones. Yer, I get it, the tech specs are better with the #apple product, but it caught me off-guard. And the playlist migration was as painless as could be.

I'm sure some of this has to do with the fact that I'm old. I think I need more rizz, no cap.

Papers are also disappearing. While not a racist man, I'm going to paraphrase one of Samuel L. Jackson's lines in Django Unchained. At this point, legacy media needs to be all given sledgehammers, worked until their backs give out, hit in the head with a hammer, and then thrown into the dead "media" hole.

I use a #ricoh #griii and have been very happy with it when I'm not being a dumbass with settings (ask me how I know). After finally successfully exporting the media from an older IG account, I came across this gem. Yes, image is old enough it has an OLD IG frame. I've not received a legitimate answer to the following #AI question: AI frameworks (Openclaw, Hermes, etc.) seem well-suited for small to large businesses looking to scale to sizes that (maybe) can make existing employees more productive or (probably) allow management to reduce headcount by implementing skills/agents to replace employees. Are there legitimate (as in viable, not in terms of legality) use cases of AI that allow individuals to ramp their own individual skills and toolsets to combat, impede, or poison corporate AI use? Failing that, is there any case where individuals can use AI frameworks to better themselves without falling into the academic trap of being an academic just to increase academic power instead of producing actual results? Honest to god, I would spin up my own small AI instance, but I don't have a business use for it and I don't want to contribute to the rise of skynet. Is there a point?

Contrary to the spin of this article, the demise of the #elonmusk empire is not imminent nor even likely. Yeah, SpaceX had an issue, and Tesla's sales are down a bit, but take a look at the facts. Despite anti-Tesla sentiment last year and poor sales, Elon negotiated a record compensation package. NASA is still using SpaceX rockets for payloads. StarLink is still going and pervasive in future US governmental ventures. Brain implantations are still happening. The thing to remember here is that the financial metrics are meaningless if the dopes (investors, press, ignorant rubes, fanboys) believing Elon don't see the pasty bastard for what he is. To use a fishing analog, Elon has the hook set deep, and many will not be able to disengage from the bait. Elon can do, and has been doing some things wrong to the point of illegality in the same of progress. I hope I'm wrong. HBO's #rome was good enough (IMHO) that I initially bought the series on DVD, then re-bought it when it came out on Blu-ray. Yeah, it had nudity, but it was really good.

I don't have access to either set of physical media (nor anyway to play the media at this point), bur I might consider yet another purchase in digital form.

When Bartiromo was at CNBC, I found her to be a solid financial reporter. I stepped away from viewing when I saw her beginning her transition from financial journalist to MAGAt mouthpiece.

Her slide into darkness reminded me a great deal of Lou Dobbs, and I expect her to have a similar career trajectory if she doesn't end up landing a spot as Press Secretary for #trump.

The #startrek Strange New Worlds soap-opera episode is yet another huge miss in a season full of disappointment for me. The acting talent on this show is strong, the characters are well defined, and I am still invested in seeing how arcs for characters not on TOS are resolved, but the schtick-of-the-week theme of this season is fucking ponderous.

There is an old saying in the #eve game community (or at least my alliance): The way to win #eve is not to play it. I have been winning eve since 2011, but for some subconscious reason, I'm drawn to it again.

The pre-game activities have commenced. I've corralled my four existing accounts (one of which required an exhausting ongoing conversation with #ccpgames to get the email changed), and now I'm working through how to get re-integrated back into my corp.

Things have changed since I left (which included a high-drama exit by the previous alliance CEO for unsaveory RL reasons) and the culture seems different, which is both a good and bad thing.

I am looking forward to my return to spreadsheets-in-space.

Santa Monica Blvd. had three independent theaters back then < 1 mile from me. No idea if any of them are still there or indie, but it was a magical time to escape the mass market slop of the era.

My son is selling popcorn to fund his Boy Scout (now Scouting America) initiatives which include an international trip postponed by the initiation of the Iranian War and his Eagle Scout project.

The popcorn fundraiser is different than what the Girl Scouts do with cookies. The popcorn features more expensive items, but the cut the Scout retains is larger. Difference in philosophy I suppose.

If popcorn isn't your thing, there are also donation options which supports both my son and an effort to send snack items to those in the military.

I'm doing everything I can to support his amazing journey through Scouting and in life. Scouting has been good for him in terms of character development, leadership, and companionship. Thank you to those that choose to help. And please let me know via DM if you choose to assist.

I am a bit frustrated with the entire process of getting the last few (5 to 10) songs that #scrobble to #lastfm to show on my website. The functionaliry is currently there atm, but I am using an external website that seems to scrape my lastfm profile then pass the results wrapped in an image. I'd like to be able to not depend on other sites to display that information, Before telling me to #rtfm, can somebody please explain to me what they are doing in detail and talk to me like I'm old?
