I hesitate to mention that unwittingly, or perhaps somewhat wittingly in Jack Lewis's case, the #Inklings have played a decisive role in blurring the lines between historiography and fantasy-writing. I wish to be charitable towards #Tolkien (and even Lewis, though he smells quite rotten to me) but this is why I say that perhaps he should have examined his doubts about hurling so much of himself, the better part of his power in fact, into the legendarium... ...oh dear.
