#Whale #stranded on #Sydney beach 3 days ago to be tested for #BirdFlu. A #newborn #humpback whale carcass will be tested for H5N1 bird flu as a precaution. A member of the public had reported the stranded whale on #GreenHillsBeach in Cronulla about 6.30am on Friday by calling the Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia (ORRCA) hotline. A mostly white #humpback #whale #calf has been spotted swimming off the coast of #CabaritaBeach & about 100 kilometres north at #Minjerribah on #StradbrokeIsland the following day. It is thought that this is a leucistic whale, which still have some pigment and normal dark eyes, unlike albino whales that are completely white and have pink or reddish eyes. #auspol #cetaceans #HumpbackWhale https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07-06/rare-humpback-whale-calf-off-queensland-nsw-coast/106884462
