I've always liked Gappa. But it is kind of a mid kaiju movie. Nothing wrong with it (aside from the obvious brownface...). Just not much that stands out. Kaiju family is cool, but we already have Gorgo. The sets the monsters are on are good and feel big but none of them are stunning (maybe the cave?). It's fine. Well that was a movie. Not a really good movie, the resolution is just "convince a jackass to quit harassing the kaiju wildlife", but sure. Complete plot, monsters, and some explosions. I didn't hate anyone or anything from it, except the rampant imperialism & racism. Borderline on the sexism, it's *aware* there's options, they're just not popular. ★★★☆☆ #monsterdon #gappa I couldn't even give Year 2889 a rating. Just make it stop.
