Exactly 1 year ago, I ordered an FLX1 from @furilabs@fosstodon.org after seeing it at #FOSDEM25 . I was on the look-out for something as my phone had just died 2 days earlier. My expectations were low, having only ever tried using a Pinephone (not pro) Once i got the FLX1 in my hands, I was blown away by how well it worked. Camera, GPS, Phone calls, Mobile data* all worked flawlessly out of the box. I can run android apps like signal or my banking app. And the Linux app ecosystem has almost anything I would need on FlatHub. Battery life is decent even when running android apps, and I feel like I can rely on the device working when I need it. (*) I am having some odd bugs with mobile data on my carrier, but one of the devs is helping me resolve it. ( thanks @fakeshell@fosstodon.org ) At first, there were obviously some rough edges. E.G. I was unable to use the phone with a SIM I bought for a trip to Japan, I didn't know that i could use my banking app, or general instability. Today however, many rough edges have been dealt with, and I have adapted to the device. The FLX1 is in my pocket right now and my only device 90% of the time. The team behind the device have been extremely dedicated and helpful. I am very grateful for all the work they put into this awesome device. If anyone is looking for a cool (non-SailfishOS) Linux phone that *works as a daily driver* I would definitely point them towards FuriLabs. (Just expect there to be some issues, that's inevitable) I don't have much experience with the current FLX1s, but that hardly matters as it's mainly about the software and experience. Looking forward one more year! 🥂 Full disclosure: I will receive the dock for this phone in exchange for writing this post. In no way did FuriLabs influence what i said and I was planning on doing so anyway.
