'Lessons learned' over LGBT youth event at #Exeter Library - BBC News This is incredibly sad and I suspect the "lesson learned" was that #SexEducation stalls are more effort than they're worth for public services. There's obviously a massive amount of #homophobia behind this, but given the Epstein revelations I am now deeply suspicious of any politicians who don't want young people educated enough about sex to potentially know what's being done to them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c17ylqjl9qno #ReformUK

Hahah, the #Reform councillor who complained about the Pride event at #Exeter Library has now been investigated and apologise and undertake code of conduct training. https://www.creditoncourier.co.uk/news/reform-leader-must-apologise-after-library-sexual-aids-stall-row-933690

#Exeter #Devon #UK The event was interrupted by climate activists protesting the sponsorship from Howden Howden – which has more than 100 branches across the UK for home and car insurance – has been repeatedly targeted by Extinction Rebellion (XR) local groups for "enabling climate-wrecking fossil fuel projects by brokering insurance for oil drilling, coal mining, and oil infrastructure." https://theecologist.org/2026/jun/29/activists-upstage-climate-institute-launch #ClimateChange #pollution #ecology #environment #climate #ClimateStrike

Good morning Mastodon! Remember when you were in primary school and went on school trips to places teachers though were important or free, and retained nothing from them except for who was sick on whom on the way there? Now you're older and nerdier did you ever think "Actually it might be really interesting to visit a major piece of civic infrastructure and learn how it works?" Just me? Well I was in luck today because the University sustainability team has organised a tour of #Exeter Energy Recovery Facility in #MarshBarton, where all our non-recyclable rubbish ends up. https://www.viridor.co.uk/energy/energy-recovery-facilities/exeter-erf/

My introvert 19yo daughter has been accepted for a student exchange program in #exeter university (Health & Life Sciences) in 26Q3 but has cold feet due to rumors it's a posh, partying and racist place. Anyone know anyone who could comment on how #ExeterUni is like nowadays (as opposed to 2018 when there was a public racist issue in a student chat group)? (boosts help reach so they are greatly appreciated)
