@pluralistic@mamot.fr Hmmm maybe now that the #icc is under American threat this is the right moment to repeal #article6 of the European copyright directive and start the #disenshittification of our products? What are they going to do, threaten to tarief and invade us? 🇪🇺🇳🇱

@maxschrems@mastodon.social We could counter with an equally stupid tariff... or we could do the smarter thing and abolish the anti-circumvention laws that we originally passed against our interests just because the US threatened tariffs otherwise. Now that we get tariffs there is no reason to stay captured by US tech companies. We could have right to repair laws and the right to write, distribute and buy software for the products we buy. There is no reason that John Deere can brick all of Europe's tractors at the same time (or Tesla all Teslas, Apple all iPhones, Microsoft all office suites etc) other than that we agreed to stupid deals in the past to avoid tariffs, which we get now anyway.
