When you press the share button on Loops web and mobile apps, you see the new Share Sheet. The top row are Direct Message recipients, or Group chats. Middle row is popular mainstream platforms. Bottom row are fediverse platforms that support ActivityIntents ✨ Sharing should be easy and powerful! #Loops #Share #DirectMessages

Look how easy it is to share a Loops video to a group chat with friends on Loops, Mastodon and Pixelfed. Also, notice how easy it is to completely disable DMs! Loops has supercharged regular Direct Messages, and made them more like TikTok, Instagram and Messenger. This is how we bring the fediverse to the masses, by making group chat and private groups more easy to use and familiar. That is how most people use social media nowadays. We redesigned profile headers to better use the available space and show more of the video grid. You may also notice the new Message button, we now have Direct Messages! To prevent spam, you will only see messages from mutuals, the rest will be in the Requests tab. #Loops #LoopsDev #DirectMessages

Loops DMs: By default, messages from accounts you do not follow will appear in your Requests inbox, and will only show one message until you approve the request. Subsequent messages are discarded, until you approve. #Loops #DirectMessages

The Direct Messages feature requires a lot of careful consideration to prevent abuse. This is why you will only be able to message accounts that follow you if your account has less than X followers or is younger than 1 year old. Don’t worry if you have less than X followers, but have more than XX cumulative likes across your videos, you will bypass this restriction. Incoming and outgoing messages will be scanned for known spam urls before processing. #loops #directMessages #spamMitigation

The next Loops web/app release will contain:

  • Comment media (image/gifv)
  • Curated Onboarding
  • Direct Messages
  • Push Notifications
  • Starter Kits

You will be able to share videos to your most recent DM conversations easily, with multi-participant support (aka groupchats)

One more thing, Kickstarter backers and early loops.video users will be invited to the Sup early alpha after this release!
