I wrote a small blog post about the new release of patchlevel/event-sourcing-phpstan-extension, 1.3.0 adds three new rules. They report aggregate properties that no event ever fills, state that nothing ever reads, and state that changes outside an apply method. Also, every rule can be turned off individually. Feel free to check it out! https://patchlevel.dev/blog/what-is-new-in-the-event-sourcing-phpstan-extension-1-3-0 #TechBlog #PHP #DDD #EventSourcing #PHPStan #StaticAnalysis

Requirements change, but your events are immutable and your history lives forever. So how do you evolve them without breaking anything? I just published the second and final part of my two-part series on event design: "Evolving Your Events Over Time." It walks through the whole toolbox of event evolution, from a free rename to rebuilding the whole store. Feel free to check it out! https://patchlevel.dev/blog/evolving-your-events-over-time #TechBlog #PHP #DDD #EventSourcing #EventDesign

Using #AI makes people less likely to be correct

Accuracy collapsed when AI was available

  • Baseline: 27% gave correct answer
  • With AI advice, 9% gave #correct answer

Fact: Some would-be correct people got AI advice & became #wrong

AI advice made people #confident there're correct

  • Baseline: 30%
  • With AI help, confidence rose to 76%

People became worse, accuracy was only 1/3, but they were twice as confident

Time for some shameless self-advertisement: I have some availability starting this September! I'm an experienced OSS maintainer, with lots of work done on @doctrine@phpc.social and @getlaminas@phpc.social I push for #DDD (with humans & tactical). Languages mostly #Go, #PHP, although I'd love to do some #Rust, and I read anything at all. I can #Terraform your infrastructure, work on hardening CI/SA pipelines, Docker and #Nix builds, test suites. Rates between 700~1100 EUR/day depending on terms. #getfedihired

Architects often start hopeful and end up worn down, watching their vision get stripped back by old systems and competing priorities. Larisa Feldman spent years avoiding the role for that exact reason, until she found a place where it could work differently.
