The relief is only brief as temperatures will be back into the 90s by Thursday and near 100 for the upcoming weekend. Critical fire weather conditions are expected in North Park and Middle Park through the afternoon.

At 640 PM MDT, Thunderstorms producing heavy rain have ended over most of the Aspen Acres Burn Scar, though run-off, flooding and debris flows will continue for at least the next 1 to 2 hours. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Any additional rainfall amounts this evening will be light, generally less than a tenth of an inch. Flash flooding is already occurring, with water rescues and large debris flows reported. FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Aspen Acres Burn Scar, including San Isabel and North Creek near Beulah. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported.   • Flash Flood Warning for... The Aspen Acres Burn Scar in... East Central Custer County in southeastern Colorado... Southwestern Pueblo County in southeastern Colorado...

  • Until 700 PM MDT.

  • At 401 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Aspen Acres Burn Scar. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the St Charles drainage. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Aspen Acres Burn Scar.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Aspen Acres Burn Scar.

The wildfire situation in the Southern Rockies continues to escalate. A new and fast-moving wind-driven fire today southwest of Pueblo, CO (#AspenAcresFire, near Beulah, circled in yellow) is of particular concern, and is currently burning through populated areas. #COwx

The #GoldMountainFire near Ouray, CO (ignited yesterday) and the hours-old #WillowFire near Leadville, CO are both spreading rapidly and exhibiting extreme fire behavior and are burning mainly in high-elevation timber, with expanding evacuations in these areas. #COwx
