I just read something on how affordable or free childcare is considered to be instrumental in gender equality.
I find that weird. Whether or not you can afford childcare has nothing to do with whom of the parents goes to work and who stays home.
Men, on average, are paid better for the same job. That's an issue. Traditional expectations on how cishet couples arrange life are an issue. The way we treat moms vs how we treat dads. That's an issue.
The accessibility of childcare is an issue too. But not in regards to gender equality.
Think we're blaming the wrong thing here.
As per usual.
