Australian Government 2026 Census website is failing, and it isn't even the real Census night yet. Imagine what is going to happen on Tuesday! This is reminicent of the 2016 census, which was the first attempt to allow online submissions, which failed because everyone logged in after tea to do it at the same time and flooded the system (causing the government to claim they were hacked, rather than just not provisioning their systems correctly to handle the correct load). I thought that surely there wouldn't be a flood on Saturday night, so do it now, but it appears that wasn't a good assumption. #auspol #censusfail #census2026

per another post, different thread, my census letter came yesterday, so late this arvo i used it to log into the online census, and...What was Droppie's sex recorded at birth? @Old_IT_geek@techhub.social thanks for that important reply! 🤗 if it sets your mind at ease, given the clumsiness of my prior diatribes on this topic, i hope i might now be able to somewhat clarify. in fact i do trust our #ABS, & i do value & esteem them as highly as our wonderful #AEC. it is not their incompetence nor malfeasance i fear. it is specifically the possibility of a future malevolent govt i fear, which might compel by law & violence ABS staff to de-anonymise databases to facilitate them identifying their perceived ideological enemies for purposes of incarceration, violence, & potentially extermination. that sounds preposterous, doesn't it? of course it does! yet, i look at the madness & evil of merka [in general, but in context here specifically their open war against trans peeps], the seemingly ongoing escalation of public hate & governmental rhetorical & political violence against trans peeps in UK, & i look at the sickening rise in RWNJs here in straya, personified by PHON but there's others too... & so i have close to zero confidence in the future safety of trans peeps even here, if these trends continue. as such, though my instinctive desire ordinarily would be to fully & frankly participate in this census like its predecessors, i am responding now to a stronger desire... self-preservation. 🥺 #census #census2026 #auspol #trans #transphobia #transmisia #FuckRWNJs

https://info.census.abs.gov.au/about/about-census-questions/personal-details#sex-recorded-at-birth this webpage does not specify whether this question is optional or mandatory... i thus presume it to be the latter. thirty minutes on an anonymous [#31#] call to the support line failed to furnish a firm answer. i am therefore going to request a paper form, do it offline old-skool, & skip that question. i simply refuse to provide self-outing data to a digital database that will still exist in another 5, 10, 15 years if/when straya then completes its merkanisation & elects our own transmisic fascists into govt #auspol #census #census2026 #vpn #trans

for any other digital strayans who also might have been wondering:You can use the online Census form wherever you can access the internet. Using a VPN will not affect how we protect your privacy.tldr; on my interpretation, those of us unwilling to disclose our real IP address to the ABS / govt when doing the imminent census, can use our vpns i asked coz whilst the last census also allowed vpns, the one before that did not, so i chose paper instead back then #auspol #census #census2026 #vpn #psa
