The further consolidation of the pharmaceutical sector looks likely, making the epithet 'BigPharma' even more apposite: UK-based AstraZenica are in talks with US Bristol Myers about a merger into a likely $400bn capitalised mega corporation (making it the fourth largest global drug maker). Is this a further sign that UK corporations are under-valued, or an indication of a pivot away from the UK drugs market, or both? We can bet it won't *reduce* drug prices! #BigPharma #economics h/t FT

"We’ll kill our poor people to make your rich companies richer”😡😡 Those are the words of the editor of the British Medical Journal, which just published research showing that Starmer/Streeting's pharma deal with Trump will cause 229,000 excess deaths in England. Andy Burnham must tear it up. https://weownit.org.uk/news/andy-burnham-must-show-trumps-big-pharma-deal-the-red-card/ #NHS #BigPharma #WealthInequality

The NHS will have to divert £45bn from essential services to pay for new medicines under the terms of the UK-US trade deal agreed last December, leading to more than 200,000 avoidable deaths of patients, analysis has found. Another of Starmer's legacies. He rolled over when Trump demanded we cave to Big Pharma. #BigPharma #UKPolitics US-UK drug deal could result in 229,000 excess deaths in England, analysis suggests | NHS | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/jul/01/us-uk-drug-deal-could-result-in-229000-excess-deaths-in-england-analysis-suggests

Orwell vs Huxley "There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution." - Aldous Huxley "The people will not revolt. They will not look up from their screens long enough to notice what's happening." - George Orwell 1984 "Doublethink mens the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneosly, and accepting both of them." - George Orwell "Central to all forms of oppression is the need to prevent people from openly discussing ideas and issues." - George Orwell "It's not so much staying alive, it's staying HUMAN that's important. What counts is that we don't betray each other." - George Orwell "It is this fear of a supposedly dangerous mob that makes nearly all intelligent people conservative in their opinons." - George Orwell "If most of us remain ignorant of ourselves, it it because self knowledge is painful and we prefer the pleasures of illusion."- Aldous Huxley "Medical science has made such tremendous progress that there is a hardly a healthy human left." - Aldous Huxley "People will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think." - Aldous Huxley "The victim of mind-manipulation does not know that he is a victim. To him, the walls of his prison are invisible, and he beleieves himself to be free." - Aldous Huxley "Thanks to words, we have been able to rise above the brutes; and thanks to words, we have often sunk to the level of the demons." - Aldous Huxley "The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence." - Aldous Huxley #GeorgeOrwell #AldousHuxley #OrwellRolls #FreeSpeech #Censorship #SurveillanceState #StopSpyingOnUs #Green #Progressive #Libertarian #RadicalFeminist #Solidarity #BigPharma #Gaslighting

The real money in #AI isn't in chatbots or anything of the sort. That will be a low percentage of the usage. The main usage is #data processing. From climate models to optimising factory processes. Just imagine how much #bigpharma can make processing unimaginable amounts of medical data to produce tailored meds. Everything can be optimised. THAT is where the big money is. THAT is also why it has to be #selfhosted rather than letting #bigtech run and control it. AI will run the world.
