Just been over to church to do some maintenance on the bells. We discovered at the last practice that the tenor clapper was loose, so went over to tighten it properly, and check all the other bolts. Turns out bell 3 clapper was a bit loose too! The new ropes have had time to bed in, so adjusted them all to a better length. Pic4 you can see where the rope passes through the wheel on the right of the pic, and is tied around the spokes in the middle, so we can adjust length. Typically this is because they change with the weather, but our new ropes are manmade fibre so shouldn't change so frequently. Ready for a quarter peal tomorrow. #bellringing

#bellringing at Loughborough this evening. Attempted a quarter peal of Norfolk at the foundry, which came to grief leaving us with 30mins spare, so rang my quickest ever quarter (including handbell quarters!) 29 minutes on the light six. Then practice at the parish where we had a visiting art student from the university, so I got to play tour guide and showed her the bells.

Oops! Had a rope snap tonight at #bellringing practice. I've seen it happen before, but not sure I was the one ringing it, until now. The universe is telling me I really must get around to buying new ropes (it's only been on my to do list for a couple of years!)
