I've been continuing to sporadically binge watch Battlestar Galactica. I wasn't entirely sure why I was rewatching it, but here in the midst of S3 it's clear. I need help processing what is happening in our real world right now, fiction is as good a method as any for me, and BG has it all! To wit: Technology, and the need for sandboxed, low-tech devices to defend against unimaginably superior computing power; religious fervor and the search for a homeland; the psychology of projection, and the profound disconnect between the real world and what people choose to see; politics, polls, rigged elections, and incompetent corrupt leaders; freedom of the press; the military, retaliative war, and biological warfare in the form of intentional pandemics; bodily autonomy, abortion rights, and racial extinction anxiety; racism, cultural eradication, and the theft of children; othering and genocide. #TV #BattlestarGalactica
