Today we celebrated ACB scholarship recipients during a special luncheon at #ACB2026! Each scholarship recipient was paired with a blind or low vision mentor, creating an opportunity to build connections and share experiences. Pictured are ACB First Vice President David Trott (left) and Executive Director Scott Thornhill (right) addressing scholarship recipients and their mentors, who are seated at large round tables.

During today's #ACB2026 session, "Entering the 'Build It Yourself' Era," ACB's Michael Babcock joined Ed Summers, Head of Accessibility at @GitHub@mstdn.social to explore how AI-powered "vibe coding" is helping people with disabilities create tools that meet their specific needs. Michael shared how he used GitHub Copilot to develop an app that helps manage ACB Community events. Pictured are Michael and Ed presenting in front of a roomful of attendees. #ACB65Years

#ACB2026 is officially underway as the ACB Board of Directors gathers for its board meeting. ACB staff are sharing updates on programs and initiatives while receiving valuable feedback and guidance from the Board as we kick off an exciting week in St. Louis. Pictured: ACB Board members and ACB staff seated around a large U-shaped table in a hotel ballroom, with attendees seated along the perimeter of the room. #ACB65Years

What an evening! Thank you to ACB Next Generation and ACB Students for hosting an energizing kickoff event that brought convention attendees together to connect, celebrate, and build excitement for the week ahead. Today is packed with exciting events, including our Advocacy Bootcamp, city bus tour, and evening general session. Just an interesting observation as an #ACB2026 attendee. I just love how our convention is being held at a hotel which has a completely inaccessible in room thermostat. That's a lovely impression there. A fully touch screen based appliance, which I wouldn't even call usable. And this folks is exactly why there needs to be voiceover like capability on these devices, yet the only fully touch screen devices blind people can use so far as I'm aware, remains Iphones and Android devices! How have we not gotten to the point of having this stuff be fully accessible by now! Just my rant for what it's worth.

I hope all my fellow #Blind, #DeafBlind, and #VisuallyImpaired people, along with their family, friends, and others have a great time at the #ACB and/or #NFB 2026 conventions. I am taking this time, and the increased activity on certain hashtags to do some shameless promotion of #OurBlind. OurBlind comprises the Discord, Lemmy, and Reddit communities operated by the staff of the r/Blind subreddit, as well as those who have joined since the creation of the Discord in 2022, and Lemmy in 2023. We have members from all over the world, and of all ages, hearing and vision levels, and are a safe space for Our LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse friends. Our general community guidelines, and the links to reach our platforms can be found on our website. https://ourblind.com/ @main @mastoblind@fedigroups.social #ACB2026 #NFB2026
