Promocja alternatywnych aktywności i bezpieczna przestrzeń internetowa w połączeniu z edukacją skierowaną do rodziców i dzieci wymaga współpracy ze strony instytucji. Media społecznościowe zarabiają na tym, że nie są bezpieczne, więc bez regulacji się nie obejdzie, ale ban jest akurat po ich myśli bo daje możliwość zebrania więcej danych użytkowników i sankcjonuje fakt, że algorytmy szkodzą.

@The_Universality @EUCommission Multiple EU member states already launched initiatives under "Digital Sovereignty" banner. It will take years, but the process already started. It is still being shaped so now it's time to advertise ideas like de-Googling gov and banking apps. Hopefully someone decisive notices and puts the idea on the list.

Szkoła? Dzieciaki już ogarnęły, że można oddać jeden telefon a drugi mieć w kieszeni. Państwo? Bez totalnej inwigilacji trudno to zrealizować w skali globalnej. Australia wprowadziła ban i niektóre dane sugerują że 60% go obeszło. Może proponujesz zorganizowanie tel'e'stapo i łapanki na ulicach? Zaproponuj jakieś rozwiązanie.

@The_Universality @EUCommission I hear "I have nothing to hide" too often, but people didn't realized yet -for example- how dynamic prices work and that hiding some information may save them money. Education is the key. Let's educate. 🙂 What EU could also do is application store for all gov/banking/med apps making it Google independent. It could be enforced by law on all new phones along with one-click Play services uninstall. Play Store/Services are the hardest to replace even by tech ppl.

@duviobaz@mastodon.social Restricting by government -wrong choice. It creates a lot of problems for everyone, i.e. affecting privacy and access for people with disabilities. It is parent's right to allow or restrict but they need to know the risks and how to do it. It will be hard to force platforms to abandon their income to make it safe for everyone, but it _should_ be safe for everyone not just "age brackets". Making safe by age creates push for age verification and government level restrictions.

@The_Universality @EUCommission Most people don't know what is API and never heard of F-Droid or Aurora, so that is why we need to educate them about how digital world works and what are the dangers.

@The_Universality @EUCommission In this case school had Microsoft Teams licenses (which is not ideal considering digital sovereignty but better than Meta) and school e-register, but teachers decided to setup different communication channel, because they knew Messenger better and had it on their personal phones.

@EUCommission Why don't you launch wide public campaign then? There are a lot of parents, who don't know they could (and should) restrict their children access to social applications. Moreover, I encountered teachers at public schools requiring children under 13 accounts in Messenger for contact purposes. They were surprised, when we pointed it is in breach with end user agreement and it is parents responsibility which apps children can use. That shouldn't happen.

@NasaGuy @mateusz @rysiek @martastozek @oaj @didleth Microsoft niemalże od zawsze miał programy, które umożliwiały dostęp do tańszego lub darmowego oprogramowania dla studentów/uczniów/nauczycieli. Oczywiście szkoła musiała się do takiego programu zapisać a nie wszyscy dyrektorzy o tej możliwości wiedzieli. Do sekretariatu szkoła musi zakupić licencję w pełnej cenie. Moje dzieci od lat/w różnych szkołach mają dostęp do O365 z użyciem konta założonego przez szkołę. Podobnie znani mi nauczyciele.

@rysiek @mateusz @martastozek @oaj @didleth Z tego co wiem to w szkołach w Łodzi oprogramowanie Microsoftu przestało działać i są na etapie odnawiania licencji, więc może warto pocisnąć tamtejszy wydział edukacji.

@rysiek @mateusz @martastozek Można wykreślić OOXML ale nie oznacza to odejścia od M$ bo Microsoft Office może pracować na ODF (i się chyba nawet pyta przy instalacji), a nam tutaj chodzi raczej o wymianę oprogramowania. W tym przypadku raczej modyfikacja ustawy o zamówieniach publicznych pt. preferowane open source i/lub wymagane oprogramowanie tworzone w Europie z mocnym naciskiem na unikanie vendor lock-in i data soveregnity.

@rysiek @mateusz @martastozek Pracowałem wiele lat w urzędzie gminy (odszedłem ponad 10 lat temu) i niemalże cały stał na Open Office. Do wprowadzenia Microsoftu zmusiła nas wymiana dokumentów z urzędami szczebla wojewódzkiego i centralnego (makra się sypały) i były to wtedy tylko z 2-3 stanowiska. Dzisiaj do wyboru jest co najmniej kilka pakietów, które z powodzeniem zastąpią Ms. Nie widzę sensu tworzyć kolejny. Bardziej się by należało skupić na zastąpieniu Sharepoint i OneDrive.

@mateusz @martastozek @rysiek To jeszcze tego nie wykreślili? I tak nikt tego w praktyce nie używa bo doc, xls i ppt zostały zastąpione przez docx, xlsx i pptx gdzieś koło 2010 roku a użycie starych formatów wymaga ręcznej zmiany przy zapisie pliku. 🙂 Przy okazji ODF (OpenDocument) i OOXML (Office Open XML) są standardem (odpowiednio ISO/IEC 26300 i ISO/IEC 29500) i wszystkie pakiety biurowe, włącznie z czymś tak egzotycznym jak AbiWord powinny je czytać poprawnie.

It will take some time to adopt in other countries, but the snowball is already rolling and may become avalanche wiping US payments.

As far as I know there is initiative to bring national payment systems - including Blik - to other EU countries.

The funds will flow. They can block credit/debit cards, but it would be a suicide for the US payment owners. We already have different solutions that work (like Blik in Poland), and that would end in a quick ban of US systems and switching to EU based solutions. Example: Blik already achieved 50% payment versus 43% card usage in e-commerce and I can use it in every store.
