@gamingonlinux@mastodon.social I wouldn't say it was massively overblown. It went under fast because they didn't address it properly.
Plus not just that. Their first day of June (which is when Pride Month begins, worldwide) started with them releasing "HATRED" - a game glorifying mass shooting, with a description that is echoing what homophobes think of LGBTQIA+ people, like myself and many people in the fediverse.
And no, the newsletter thing wasn't an accident or an unfortunate coincidence. They knew well enough NOT to send it to German users because of the legal trouble they'd get in if they did. Except they forgot to exclude Germany-based users who use English interface (hello, I'm one of those!).
And we probably shouldn't mention their undisclosed usage of AI generated promo material, or their transphobic edgy joke - https://dailydot.com/parsec/gog-transphobic-joke - something that happened again more recently as well.
I used to recommend them because of the DRM free nature of their shop. But ALL of this? Can't defend this. No one should.
