While I am sitting people down and lecturing them:
Hey, you. That guy who heard from a tech blog that connecting a vintage system to the internet will cause the whole universe to die. PLEASE STOP PARROTING THIS.
The source is likely a video of someone who connected XP to the internet and got it destroyed within seconds, but the lede is usually buried: said someone had to DMZ that XP instance *AND* disable the firewall. Two things you would NEVER EVER do on a modern system today.

I realize the occasion for doing this doesn’t have as much relevance here (it was to celebrate getting 1000 followers on the other site) buuut it’s still a #MARCHintosh thing so hey, I’ll post it here too.
