Jay Morris, who represents a district in north Louisiana, acknowledged that once Duncan’s elected position is eliminated, the civil clerk of court might struggle to handle the influx of cases. The solution, he says, is to 'hire someone.'"
They'd rather contract someone out for the same work than let an exonerated Black man take his democratically elected position. Pathetic.

@tante exactly why I'm convinced it'll fail. Corporate AI has never been and never will be sustainable. People can hold up the house of cards for as long as they want, but eventually, something will give and the whole thing will come tumbling down. And great shall be the fall of it.

@blinry my wife and I just recently went to Hong Kong and it is such a delightful city. If you have time in your schedule for it, I'd recommend walking the world's longest non-contiguous escalator path, often called the Central-Mid-Levels Escalators, starting on Jubilee St in Central Hong Kong. It is such a fun way to take in the city at various levels and takes you past some of its awesome foreign and local cuisine options, popping you right near the top of Victoria Peak.

@paninid this is such a brilliant way of describing the folly of AI in general. This is why I am utterly convinced that it (at least in its current form) will fail. It offers nothing of value, or at least nothing that justifies its cost. Eventually all the techbros will realize this and stop pumping money into it. It has to turn a profit eventually.
