I finally had the time to put into practice an idea I had over a year ago. ChatGPT but ELIZA.
The browser extension serves as a reminder that early dynamics and phenomenon of ELIZA are ever-present in today's interfaces. As we navigate sleek, well-designed surfaces, we are misguided by the interaction, confusing the underlying processes with intelligence instead of recognising them as statistical approximations of the hyper-average.
Does anyone have access to larger quantities of 3.9k Ohm resistors? We need around 200 for a sequencer soldering session at #39c3 and there was a mistake in the ordering process. During my research trip to Silicon Valley in March 2025, I noticed the bizarre AI/dev billboards on Highway 101. Intrigued by this phenomenon, I started photographing the billboards with my phone. Once back home, I couldn't stop thinking about them, so I decided to create an archive of the billboards using web scraping of Google Street View. (this also resulted in an artwork showing my daily route as an automated bot)
I later tried to make sense of this phenomenon in a text that I would still like to share here.
