Apparently Oregon's half-staff order isn't real, it's a photoshop (cf: https://bsky.app/profile/golikehellmachine.com/post/3lyjzhcrwec2g ).
But Newsom and Polis and Shapiro have all said very stupid things in praise of the murder victim, and some or all of them did lower flags to half-staff in his memory.
Surely one can denounce his murder without pretending there was anything redeemable about his horrible life's work?

Not a lawyer, but what I've read in the past is that he can file the appeal if he wants, that doesn't require a bond, but filing the appeal on its own doesn't really avoid him having to pay. After 30 days if there's no bond posted the AG can start seizing his stuff.

I'm familiar with "gobby" as a Britishism, an adjective related to "gob", meaning mouth, and to "gobshite", meaning smartass: something like "sassy" or "mouthy" or maybe just "talkative" - all of that my impression, not from some reference, could be off.
"nosh" as I'm sure you know comes from the Yiddish for snack (both noun and verb).
Obviously those are the tame meanings, but they give obvious hints to how other meanings might have arisen.
