So I had a pretty great fucking dream last night...
Pros: I finally understand what gender euphoria feels like
Cons: I finally recognize my dysphoria and know it will never go away
I don't wanna be trans, man, this is way too much work
You know, I've always wanted to be a doctor. But then life took its turns and now I'm a fish. I guess it worked out in the end, a sturgeon is a doctor down to a T.
Michael Jackson heself was a major inspiration to many. He used he knowledge and he voice to great effect.
Please respect he pronouns when talking about he, he identifies as he/he
With my recent decision to port MMIH (now "Cosmic Nadir" due to the international right of "dibs on the name" being taken), I just want to show appreciation for my concept and sprite artist Luana, check her out on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/lutd_c
Yes yes, I know, fediverse, but I gotta support her same as she's been helping me out tons.
Here's some of her work:
I've come to a realization on my world building, but first: some context.
In my world there are no beings above the laws of magic. Gods are simply beings naturally skilled in manipulating entropy. In particular, dragons are predominantly worshipped as gods in the region I mostly work on.
My spin on mithril is a metal treated and forged with the help of the gods themselves. Superheated with dragonfire, imbued with magic by dragon lightning (D&D style dragon breath).
Turns out, there's already a metal that melts at super high temperatures, needs super high voltages to treat, is super light doesn't oxidize in room temp... I could go on and on.
Aluminium.
Aluminium is a near perfect fit for mithril in my world. Sure I can just put on a few magic properties whenever I need, but aluminium as the base metal pre-magic-imbue is much better than steel for my use.
A woman goes to a bar and starts talking to the first guy she finds.
She says "do you prefer stew or salmon?"
He is immediately hooked and asks if she wants a drink.
The bartender found it strange, but he'd seen stranger things. The next day, she comes to the bar again and says the same thing to a random girl at the bar.
"Do you prefer stew or salmon?"
And just like last time, the other person is instantly charmed.
This repeats for a couple more days, the bartender getting more and more confused each time.
After about a week of this going on, finally the girl meets her match. Her love interest rejects the attempt. The bartender sees this and approaches, meaning to ask what that was about.
"Everyone she's asked this to, they've all fallen head over heels for her! Why did you refuse? What's the logic??"
"I don't know what people see in those types... she's so soup-or-fish-ial"

Amazing talk. TL;DW:
We could have ended up with Rust enums IN THE FIRST VERSIONS OF C++ if Bjarne didn't take out a keyword from simula he thought was bad design.
Sing along if you know this one!
So there's this one guy that fights fair
In a world of some very tight pairs
Now one thing's for sure
He ain't just for show
He knows the Lagrangian of the standard model is
idk what to say i just feel like i'm losing control of my life. it's not even a valid complaint because what's making me feel like this is just normal societal expectations. "society isn't fair" and "life isn't all fun and roses" and all, i know, but what the fuck am i supposed to do? accept it as it is or rebel against the system? i don't want either of those things, i just want to live the life i want. chores are fine, just the thought of dedicating 70% of my waking time to furthering the spread of genAI is fucking awful to me
In the short period that I worked with kids, one thing that worked remarkably well was just to... like... talk to them like they're adults. Nobody ever fucking does that. And none of them like being talked down to.
Don't downplay the fuck ups they've done, but explain clearly why it was wrong and try to CONVINCE THEM your point of view makes more sense. Don't start telling them "no you're wrong" off the bat.
If the kids hadn't told me they liked the way I treated them, I never would've known that's not the norm. It's mind boggling to me people just repeat the way they were treated as kids onto the new kids. I thought we learned this lesson in the 90s already? Or maybe in the 80s? 70s?
Here's one for the music theory nerds out there
I have an idea for a track for my game that goes kind of like this:
1. It must loop
2. It has an upward modulation at the end (cheesy? yes but:)
3. It has no downward modulation
So here is a little puzzle for yall: how would that be possible? Solution in the replies.
Like a beacon 'mong the starlight
Always watching with intent
As if caring for us lowborn
When preparing for ascent
Chosen by the mighty lords
We accept our duty found
From the rites up to the sermons
'Tis a new life to be bound
Serve we may. Serve we will
And through powers given
May rivers flow though in still
For blade may not be driven
Lest both blood and water fill
The cup that once was riven
For others to then distill
Hear me out
Depressed misunderstood trans character works on a poem for months but it's never good enough for themself, doesn't want to publish it.
One day a friend sneaks a peek and finds out it's great, can't figure out why author dislikes it.
Time skip to post epic battle or something, idk
Author is fucked up but is going to live. Friend asks why they never published it.
There was an extra syllable and they can't take it out without losing meaning.
Ensue heartfelt discussion + self acceptance, decides to publish it
Then they kiss idk
Pst.
Hey, kid.
Want something cool? You can get it real cheap, just don't ask questions.

Remember to imagine yourself as a tiny nautilus, it's guaranteed to boost your self esteem (even if it's at the cost of a little of your image).
