Insert dashes with new keyboard shortcuts. You can quickly insert an en dash (–) or em dash (—) while typing. Press Windows logo key + Minus (-) to insert an en dash, and Windows logo key + Shift + Minus (-) to insert an em dash.

@serrebi@serrebiradio.com @mcourcel@allovertheplace.ca Now that I have an add-on for the Microsoft Neural Voices from nvda.ru and Southern Vietnamese voice data, I don't think I'll willingly use Google TTS, but I'm glad people have options for use with their screen reader of choice though.

@serrebi@serrebiradio.com @mcourcel@allovertheplace.ca Interesting, as unzipping the add-on and scanning is perfectly fine. I also have cloud protection disabled because gross ML definitions, but it also was flagged in add-on form. I don't know about coding or the like, but your theory of false positive does hold more weight.

@oceane@gotosocial.social @ChristineMalec@mstdn.ca I don't work in the accessibility field and don't know where you got the 80-character limit datapoint from, but I don't think that's the case for anyone. While braille displays may average 20, 40, or 80 cells in size, each one has the ability to pan, i.e., read the next X characters in the line as needed.

@simon@procrastodon.net Would something like a Be My Eyes volunteer be helpful if you can't get OCR to work? LLMs usually do okay, but I suspect it's not as useful for these cases though you never know.

@JamminJerry @jscholes To be fair, I think the trend nowadays is to say something annoying when done. Notification on the app I use reminds me to clean, so I don't think it's specifically because of infantilizing PWD. Now if the volume of the voice prompts can't go down to a decently quiet level, then there's a big issue for sure. Also, if you tell it to turn off, how do you turn it back on? Unplug and replug?

@fesshole What an evocative phrase "rich patina of orange earwax" is. Now I know yellow earwax darkens to orange the more concentrated it is, but later I'm sure I would have forgotten that tidbit, for good or for ill.

@KaraLG84 Most Pad Thai is generally sold at restaurants with a spice level, and while I am a Vietnamese, my taste buds can't handle the heat. In my experience though, most instant Pad Thai are also spicy too, which is hwy I have to look to see if the pepper flakes is in a separate packet.

Re threaded and boosted post, while some may tell us to stick to mailing lists and other legacy methods, when Yahoo!Groups went under without much time or recourse, that sours me on that solution too. That said, I don't actually have any solutions in mind, as having your own email server is getting harder and harder to pull off nowadays.

@pitermach @simon @accessibleandroid They essentially said they pulled it from the store because when it was cracked, sales dropped to virtually zero. That logic doesn't make sense to me, because that would mean sales would literally be zero if you pull it from the store, but there would definitely be higher chances of more purchases if it remained available. I'll take a wait and see approach for sure.
