The simple hecking image viewer that didn't update in years and I welded into my simple screenshot and image management scripts updated again and completely changed its config format again. You display an image in a blank undecorated window why do you need a whole ass embedded lua for your config format and why do you keep changing the grammar stop it.

I think if I were to get a tarot deck that's actually maximum "Me" it'd be black with dayglo yellow minimalist representational art. Very simple. Which I imagine is the most heretical thing since most folks want really detailed expressive art on these for engagement sake, but I do not engage visually. I am a purely kinesthetic/feelings creature. I want colors and glyphs that make vee feel things.

Oh cool, the main dev of Mumble apparently sabotaged a linux distro by pushing tainted/broken packages to deliberately break user systems, following an argument about infrastructure and moderation. A distro he volunteered to work on, that prides itself on being "Anti-DEI"/"Anti-Woke" and embraced XLibre right out of the gate. So shithead joins a pool of shitheads then pisses in the pool and throws a fit on the way out. Or so it seems. I don't trust anyone in this entire debacle at this point. I'd just eyeroll and move on except the groups I pulled off Discord moved to Mumble and now I need to be suspicious of any kind of update that lands until I decide if I want to move to something else :/

@ellenor2000@mastodon.top Yeah the main problem is nothing out there that does streaming can actually competently do multi-stream audio, nor can RTMP. eRTMP allows for it, but nothing supports it. OBS does in theory but only insofar as if you say you're streaming to Twitch, special features are enabled to do things. Their "RTMP server" egress is still vanilla RTMP with no enhanced features.

The way GDQ handles audio is ingenious but also terrible for a music centric game like this. When they take in a remote run, they have both the runner and the commentator stream to an RTMP server with OBS. What they do though is they have the runner bias their entire game audio to the right channel and the commentator to the left, then use balance to control the game/commentary mix. But it means the game is mono. :<

Awful morning, good afternoon/evening. I hung out with someone I've been working with on community stream projects for almost 10 years now for the first time. They were in town for something else and when mentioning their travels I got to go "Yo, you're literally 8 miles from where I live, we're doing something" I've been up since 2am. Someone hecking force vee to bed.

I had a conversation with a writer the other day about how one of the main ways writers prep epubs is to write in HTML then convert using Pandoc or similar.

Well this spiraled out into an entire Thing about semantic HTML and webdev and how everything says all of your styling should be in CSS and... you know, that's for web, not for source files for epub conversion.

I had much the same problems when I started using HTML/CSS to do broadcast graphic design. The style is the data. So those outlooks don't really apply the same way.

Sometimes style conveys data. Emphasis is one such example. So doing emphasis with a styled means conversions lose data.

@elfi@social.pixie.town My wheelhouse is more delivery infrastructure and protocol and broadcast engineering, not player stuff. I do know enough about ffmpeg and AVC to scare children and small animals but I don't think I could swing turning that into a player dev position. Sounds neat though T_T; Might try and see anyway.

"Let governments regulate computers, there'll always be a way around it" mentality annoys vee.

Sure, I do believe there'll always be a way. That way will be limited to the top 5% of technical capability and/or involve dangerous hacks that reduce security or require trusting some random (probably now illegal) website to run processes and code on your box to make that way happen.

I was just telling someone yesterday that hypervisor hacks to run unsigned code to circumvent Denuvo are incredibly dangerous. Now add "The government says this is mandatory to Protect The Kids" to that equation.

For 95% of people the new reality will be this locked down state and the entire culture around computing will accept it as the norm. What will that do to Literally Everything?
