Qualcomm is buying Arduino. Arduino was already so great. I don't understand what Qualcomm can do to make Arduino better but I know there is a lot they could do to make it worse. Major corporations buying up beloved small brands and products ends poorly more often than not. There's plenty of competition in that part of the hardware world but it's the openness, community, and all of the support that really matters.

I was listening to Youtube in my car this morning when the host of the video was interviewing a "security expert" who had some dubious ideas. At one point he mentioned malware adding C: to the exclusions list to cause MS Defender to stop scanning it. Why would that be allowed, I wondered? I looked into it: People running with admin. Of course. Amazing that anyone would still do that anymore.
I am reminded of Lindows which was first released way back in 2001, got sued by Microsoft, and then faded away. I know the guy who paid others to create it. He insisted that to be easy to use everyone should just login as root and run with root. His (flawed) reasoning was that because everything you cared about was in your home directory and accessible by your own user and that protecting that OS was pointless if your own data was compromised so just run as root. The sensible Linux people knew this was a bad idea all along. And I'm glad to see that history and even present day conditions prove us right.

@m@lgbtqia.space RSS basically died with Google reader as far as I know. That's when I stopped using it, years ago. But 6 months ago I stood up a freshrss container which I never remember to look and the feedme app on Android would never update the feeds for some reason. Still trying to figure that one out. It's gotten a lot more complicated than it used to be. Why can't feedme just import my feed instead of needing a freshrss/Feedly/etc running as a middle-man? I didn't know...
