Our hearts go out to Dragoneer's friends and family & the furry fandom tonight.
We lost a great person today -- he provided the foundation for the furry fandom to exist as it does today, & without him many connections wouldn't have been made.
Rest in peace, Dragoneer.
On recommendation from other federated admins, Pawb.Social will be affecting defederation against linuxrocks.online for the following reasons:
Lack of moderation: Moderation of basic decencies is expected and required for any instances Pawb.Social federates with, including reasonable rules or community guidelines. The team there have openly embraced content that is objectively transphobic, conspiracy-oriented, and anti-LGBTQ+.
Harassment of reporters: No admin or moderator of an instance should release report information, let alone try to go after remote users for their reports.
Platforming of hate speech: We will not tolerate federation with any instance that openly abides by the kind of content that adversely affects the lives of our users, nor puts them in a place where they have to defend their right to exist.
🚧🗓 Upcoming Maintenance for furry.engineer on Thursday, April 4th at 10 PM Mountain Time
The final step of migrating from Longhorn now requires us to move furry.engineer from Longhorn to the NAS. We'll need to take the service down to ensure no new data is created during the migration process so we can avoid the need to run it a second time.
We expect the service will be offline throughout the night of Thursday, April 4th into Friday, April 5th. We expect to bring the service online again around 9 AM Mountain Time on Friday, April 5th.
With the initial results from the polls, we're going to trial running this migration overnight as it will be non-interactive as soon as the transfer begins until the time it finishes, with some configuration changes in the morning to bring everything online again. We're also wanting to provide at least 24 hours for future scheduled maintenance to ensure everyone is aware, with exceptions for emergency maintenance.

🌐🚧 Upcoming Maintenance - May 3, 2024
When: May 3, 2024
Start Time: 8 - 11 AM US Mountain Time (Denver)
End Time: Approx. ~1 hour later
———
We’ve got a technician from Quantum Fiber (taking over from CenturyLink, as they’re migrating our account) coming between 8 AM and 11 AM to swap the modem with a newer one, and setup the new account.
We don’t expect any downtime to take longer than an hour or two at most, and won’t be able to get a more accurate start time until the morning.
When we get info, we’ll share it here, but we’re hoping this will alleviate some of the network instability lately, as Quantum Fiber customers in the area didn’t experience the outage we did a few ago, but we’ll see!

🚧 Revised Maintenance for Sept 4-5
We’ll be reattempting the data migration to the new NAS after having identified the issues with ElasticSearch and Redis.
We will be taking the services offline tomorrow (Wed, Sept 4th) at 10 PM US Mountain Time. We expect the data migration and service restoration should be completed by Noon on Thursday, Sept 5th.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this maintenance!
Please see https://t.me/s/pawbsocial/197 for more information.
🚧 8/30 Infrastructure Maintenance
We’ll be performing an overnight data migration from the shared NAS to the new dedicated Pawb.Social NAS.
The maintenance will take place overnight from 11 PM US Mountain Time, and is expected to be online again by 11 AM US Mountain Time on Saturday, Aug 31st (tomorrow).
We’ll do our best to have the services back online sooner assuming the remaining transfer and file verification completes early.

🌐⚠️ We’ve identified packet loss on the network and will be restarting the networking hardware at 2:30 PM Mountain Time (or 4 minutes from this post.)
We don’t expect this’ll take very long, and apologize for the inconvenience!
