George Nez, who died in 2022, spent the last few decades of his life teaching people how to build roofs out of almost nothing. The technique he co-developed with engineer Albert Knott, documented in their 2005 book Latex Concrete Habitat, is called a thin-shell latex concrete hyperbolic paraboloid roof. “Hypar” for short.
