our little town lights display well reflects our blackout conditions. There's just three lights on right now -- three of us admins.

tilde.town has zero evidence of being actually hacked however we cannot stay online given the disclosure of a recent kernel vulnerability for which there is no mitigation. we've disabled SSH and that's why you can't log in.

As soon as the kernel is healthy again we will let users return.

well! that was premature! we're wedged again. Current hypothesis is that some new user's stuff was poorly behaved and is choking us out. We've already had one DC trip and will do our best to avoid a second one but it might be necessary later today.

the thing about tilde.town i'm most proud of is how highly we rank in the search results for "ascii shrimp"

regarding user signups: in the run up to this month's town con I fell way off the user signup queue. I left off in August and have about 150 to get through to bring us up to date. patience appreciated.
